THEME: OBEDIENCE IN SERVICE
TEXT: Rom.12:1 & 2
The first requirement for God's service is obedience. It is not our own work, company or church. It is God's church, work and company. We cannot do it in form of as if it is our work or church. No, it must be done by God directive. We might built a church for God but once it be dedicated to God, it is no more your church.
Paul writes on what the doctrine of the church should be. In chapter 12, he talks about practical Christianity. It has to do with renewal of mind. What Paul was trying to established is how we can lives a practical Christianity life. No one can live practical Christian life without be regenerated. Your life must be transform. You need transformation like the one John Wesley experienced in Aldergate. Also an encounter Paul experienced on his way to Damascus.
There is a man called Nicodemus. He knows everything about the Church but he saw some things different about Jesus. What kind of Man is this? He cannot come to Him during the day. A believer who used Bible to cover-up. He went to Jesus in the night. He asks Jesus to reveal the secret to him. Jesus told him He had no secret but what he need is regenerated mind. I will give us seven (7) qualities of obedience servants;
QUALITIES OF OBEDIENCE SERVANTS
TOTAL SUBMISSION (Rom. 12:1): God is looking for a man who will sacrifice their life to Him. There was a program were people donating a huge amount of money for the progress of God's work. There was a man who does not have a money to donate but instead of doing nothing, he went straight to the altar and said he sacrifice his total life to God.
LIVING SACRIFICE (Rom. 12:1): A living sacrifice is not the one to be killed. It is a sacrifice to be brought alive and made utterances on the sacrifice. After that, the sacrifice will be taken to the bush and allow to wander away.
HOLINESS (Rom. 12:1): Whatever that are not holy cannot be acceptable by God. As we cannot accept a dirty plate from people to served us food likewise God cannot accept the person who is not holy for His service.
DON'T BE CONFIRMED TO THE WORLD (Rom. 12:2): We should not do things like the people of the world. There should be different between we and the people of the world. We should be the light to the world.
TO BE TRANSFORMED (Rom. 12:2): We should not be heard from us saying bad thing/word about our country. We should be like American, they always says: God bless American. We should learn from this. Let us always bless our country and our politicians through our prayer.
RENEWING OF YOUR MIND (Rom. 12:2)
DISCOVERING THE PERFECT WILL OF GOD (Rom. 12:2): The perfect prayer is to always asks God for His will. What do You want me to do?
The sermon was concluded at 12:25pm with this prayer point: Lord help me to know Your will and to do it.
Immediately after the prayer was finally concluded by the Archbishop, the choir of FMMC, Badagry was invited for their anthem with the title: “Fere  Si Ise Wa “. After the anthem, The Rt. Rev. Olu Akinola (Bishop, Diocese of Remo Central) took the microphone to lead the church in The Nicene Creed and Intercession.
The Rt. Rev. Oluyemisi Ogunlere (Bishop, Diocese of Lagos West) performed the communion rite as the chief officiant for the communion. Immediately after the conclusion of the communion some selected families within the cathedral were prayed for during the service as the custom of the church in doing every week.
It is now the time for the Lay President thanksgiving in which the entire women in the Diocese were asks to join in the thanksgiving as the Lay President is the first female Lay President in the Diocese. The Rt. Rev. J. O. G. Ohu (Bishop, Diocese of Lagos North) prayed for the Lay President as she came forward for her thanksgiving. The women of the Diocese and the family of the Lay President joined in the thanksgiving respectively in which The Rt. Rev. Olu Akinola (Bishop, Diocse of Lagos North) prayed for them.
